This weekend, many Southwest Florida residents will receive a free tree through a local community tree distribution event with the city of Fort Myers. We love seeing initiatives like this because every tree planted today helps create a greener, healthier community for tomorrow.
To help more of those trees thrive, Joshua Tree Inc. is offering a special Community Tree Planting Assistance Program exclusively for residents who received one of these free trees.
We know that taking a tree home is only the first step. For many residents, the biggest challenge begins after pickup.

The Two Biggest Challenges
Planting Isn’t Easy for Everyone
Digging a properly sized planting hole in Florida’s soil can be physically demanding. For handicapped seniors, veterans, residents with disabilities, or anyone with limited mobility, planting a tree safely may simply not be possible.
Tree Survival Starts with Proper Installation
Young container-grown trees should be planted as soon as possible. During Florida’s summer heat, delaying planting can stress the tree and reduce its chances of long-term success.
Proper planting depth, root flare placement, watering, and location all contribute to a healthy, thriving tree.
Our Community Tree Planting Assistance Program
To help support this community tree planting effort, Joshua Tree Inc. is offering professional installation only for residents who received a free tree from this weekend’s community tree giveaway.
Complimentary Installation
We will professionally plant your tree at no charge if you are:
- A veteran
- A Fort Myers resident with a disability
- A handicapped senior
$25 Professional Installation
If you also received a free tree through the giveaway but do not qualify for the complimentary program, we’re offering professional installation for just $25.
This heavily subsidized service is designed to help ensure your new tree gets the best possible start and planted in the best possible location.
Eligibility: This special offer is available only for trees received through this weekend’s free community tree giveaway. It does not apply to privately purchased trees or future tree plantings.
