How to Prepare for Your Tree Service Appointment

5 Steps to a Smoother, Safer Tree Service Visit

Your tree care appointment is booked, and our team of ISA-Certified Arborists is scheduled to arrive. Excellent! Taking proactive steps to care for your trees is one of the best investments you can make in your property. To help ensure the day goes as smoothly and efficiently as possible, here are five simple steps you can take to prepare your property for our visit.

1. Clear the Work Zone

The area underneath and around the trees we will be working on needs to be clear of any obstacles. This is crucial for the safety of our crew and the protection of your belongings. Please take a few minutes to move:

  • Vehicles: Cars, boats, RVs, and trailers should be moved to a safe distance.
  • Patio Furniture: Tables, chairs, grills, and umbrellas.
  • Lawn Ornaments: Bird baths, statues, and decorative planters.
  • Children’s Toys: Playhouses, trampolines, and sports equipment.

Our crew will do a final walkthrough before starting, but having the area pre-cleared saves time and ensures nothing gets overlooked.

2. Secure Your Pets

Even the most well-behaved pets can become anxious or overly curious with the noise and activity of a tree care operation. For their safety and the safety of our crew, please ensure all pets are kept securely indoors or in a safe, enclosed area away from the work zone for the entire duration of the service.

3. Inform Your Neighbors

A professional tree care operation can involve large equipment, noise from chainsaws and chippers, and temporary street blockages. Giving your immediate neighbors a friendly heads-up is a courteous gesture that can prevent misunderstandings. Let them know that a professional, insured crew will be working on your property and that there may be some temporary noise or access disruption.

4. Provide Access

Please ensure that any gates are unlocked to provide our crews and equipment access to the work area. If you have a specific path you’d like us to use to minimize impact on your lawn, please let us know during the initial walkthrough with the crew leader.

5. Be Available for the Initial Walkthrough

While you are not required to be home for the entire duration of the service, we highly recommend being available for the first 15-20 minutes when the crew arrives. This allows you to:

  • Meet the crew leader and confirm the scope of work outlined in your Tree Health Assessment.
  • Point out any specific concerns you may have.
  • Discuss any last-minute details, such as the location of sprinkler heads or invisible dog fences.

This initial meeting ensures everyone is on the same page and that the work is completed exactly to your satisfaction.

Our Commitment to You

At Joshua Tree Inc., we treat your property with the same respect we treat our own. Our crews are trained to work safely and efficiently, and we are committed to leaving your property cleaner than we found it. By taking these few preparatory steps, you help us focus on what we do best: providing expert care for your trees.
